“I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.” –John 16:33
TRANSCRIPTION:
Good morning, good morning, good morning. God bless you. Grace and peace be unto all of you, my Father’s children.
I pray you’re already having an incredible Tuesday morning in the year of our Lord.
This week, we’ve been focusing on peace—specifically, peace of mind. I believe this is a moment where we need encouragement and reassurance about the gift God gives: peace that passes all understanding.
As circumstances continue to unfold, as situations develop, and as we watch the news to see how things will play out, God says, “I need you to have peace.”
That leads us to the Gospel according to John, chapter 16, verse 33:
“I have said these things to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation. But take heart; I have overcome the world.”
I love this Scripture because of its context. Jesus is speaking to His disciples as He prepares to go to the cross. He is preparing them for His departure—but He does not sugarcoat reality.
He says plainly, “In this world, you will have trouble.”
This is not a bed of roses. There will be heartbreak. There will be disappointment. There will be despair. There will be uncertainty. There may even be moments of deep discouragement.
But then He gives the assurance: “Take heart. I have already overcome the world.”
That means there is nothing you will experience on this earth that He has not already defeated. Nothing beyond His reach. Nothing beyond His authority.
And He says, “In Me, you will have peace.”
In other words, in those moments, I do not lean on my own understanding. In those moments, I remember that Christ is the solid rock on which I stand. In those moments, I trust that God has already handled what I am tempted to stress about.
So instead of stressing, I move in peace.
Peace means I am not trying to figure out what God has already worked out. Peace means I have confidence that the God I serve has already fixed it.
And because of that confidence, I walk differently. I carry myself differently. I press toward the mark of the high calling with focus and clarity, because I am not weighed down by outside factors.
As long as I remain in Him, what can stand against me? What situation is beyond His reach?
That truth should shape my speech, my thoughts, and my disposition.
Peace and joy are not things the world can give. Only God provides peace—peace that surpasses understanding. It is beyond normal circumstances to be calm in the midst of chaos. Yet that is exactly what God offers.
Joy is the same way. It says that no matter how circumstances try to dictate my emotions, I still have joy.
Today, I want to encourage you: God is calling us to a place of peace of mind. Not ignorance. Not denial. But settled confidence.
A peace that says, “It is well with my soul.”
So walk through this Tuesday with peace. Walk with the assurance and confidence of a child of God—covered, protected, and secure—because Christ has already overcome the world.
Be blessed today as you move in peace.
God bless you. I’ll talk to you tomorrow.
