THE BIO OF CBC'S PASTOR
Rev. Dr. Jamin Powell
As the son of a Baptist Deacon and Deaconess, Rev. Dr. Jamin Powell began his ministry being licensed and subsequently ordained in the Baptist church. Rev. Powell attended Virginia Union University to pursue a degree in religion and philosophy.
While at Union, just before his Senior Year, Rev. Powell was deployed with his United States Marine Corps reserves unit to serve a tour in Iraq. After deployment, Rev. Powell continued his education and obtained both a Bachelor’s degree from Virginia Union, as well as a Masters of Divinity degree from the Morehouse school of Religion (ITC). At this time, he met his now wife Lady Dominique Nicole Powell. After they wed Rev. Powell relocated to Orlando Florida where he served faithfully as a hospice chaplain.
Rev. Powell also holds a Master’s degree in Public Health from Emory University as well as a Ph.D in Philosophy from Duke University. He is a Proud member of the National Society of Pershing Rifles and Omega Psi Phi Fraternity Inc.
After serving various churches in the African Methodist Church both as an associate and senior pastor, Dr. Powell answered the call to relocate to his hometown, where he currently serves as the Senior Pastor of Community Baptist Church in Somerset NJ. He and his wife Lady Powell are the proud parents of three boys, Preston, Austin, and Josiah Powell. Dr. Powell strives to live his life faithfully by the words of Psalm 37:23 (The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way). It is his sincere desire to see not only souls won to Christ but lives changed by Christ and people living for Christ.
