He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. -Psalm 91:1-6

TRANSCRIPTION:

Good morning, grace and peace be unto all of you, my father's children.  Pastor Powell here with your daily devotional for the wonderful month of January. We've been couched into the sacred space of the wonderful book of Psalms. Psalms on the Key of Life, if you will. And  today, this Tuesday, wonderful Tuesday, I would love if you could turn with me, if you had your swords, to the  91st Division of Psalm, 91st Division of Psalm. Now this is a song that we've heard before. Not during this study for this year, but just in general, it's something that we hear often. But I also think that it gives us good, a moniker if you will, as we enter into our day.  So,  91st song, I'm gonna read a little bit, but I want you to read the entirety of the 91st song, so you can kind of grasp the entirety of his promise to you.

“He who dwells in the shelter of Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord my refuge, my fortress, my God in whom I trust. For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions and under his wings you will find refuge. His faithfulness is a shield and a buckler. You will not fear the terror by night nor the arrow that flies by day nor the pestilence that strikes in the darkness. nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. “ And it goes on.

There's something to say that when I start my day, it's no mystery that I'm going to encounter some sort of adversity, some sort of challenge, some sort of pushback, if you will, for me to push towards the area and space of the will of God all my life. And it's important to recognize that inside of all of the resistance that's associated with life,

that here's something that the believer is given and there is a reward for the area of faith that we derive.

It's amazing because sometimes I feel like we open up our day and when adversity comes, we tap into the spirit of God, like some good luck charm, like, oh, I'm gonna grab hold of it. Whereas this scripture really speaks to a demeanor which embodies faith as  a way of life.

When I wake up, I have to acknowledge the space where God has already consistently been present. He said, so just in case you were wondering, the shelter that the most high gives us is one that was already set before the foundation of time. And we're not walking this walk with the essence of tapping into spaces that God has already designed for our protection. That God's original plan, his original context was to give us some cover.

And so even when we're looking at situations, it's almost to tell us we're not as exposed as we think we are as long as we access our area of faith. When we trust in the Lord truly, we don't walk with the area of trepidation  that others do.

And I love this scripture because it encourages me even on a day like a Tuesday or a day when I look at seemingly insurmountable situations. That God had already designed my way of escape. He'd already designed my barrier. He'd already designed  my strength. He's already designed my fortress. He's already designed it  before I knew I needed something to have a fortress against.  He's already created  my buffet.

Even before I knew that there were going to be waves of afflictions rise up against me. He's already created my deliverance before there was a thing that I could get caught up in. And so I love this scripture because it genuinely reminds you of God's faithfulness to protect us in times of trouble. It reminds you that, you know, walk around oh waiting for life as a reactionary cause. You've already put in your insurance plan by nature of the faith that you had in the God  before you got into the accident. And that is good news.

And so this Tuesday, I want you to move forward with the same level of confidence that I've already been delivered from what I haven't even recognized what I went into yet. That God is my fortress.

And the scripture goes on to talk about... uh the ways that he would protect you, the dispatching of angels around you. David wrote this and I believe that he understood at the time, this was not something he heard to say something that he assumed, this was something he knew. And he knew from experience.

And I wanna tell you from experience, I've had the same notion as it relate to God's strength in my life. So go forth on this Tuesday and be incredible.
