Today’s Scripture:

Pastoral Insight:

Lamentations is traditionally attributed to Jeremiah also known as the”weeping prophet”. So it stands to reason that the writer in this text has experienced a relationship with God with high highs and low lows, however this text encourages us to look to God to bring new mercies every day. This is the quintessential moment that gives us hope in challenging times. That no matter what happens today God has fresh mercy for us tomorrow that will sustain us through every circumstance. He further explains that because of God’s faithfulness he isn’t our last resort he is our immediate response hence him being our portion.

Personal Reflection:

  • What do new mercies daily look like to you?

  • When waiting on the Lord what should remain on our hearts?

  • How can we encourage one another when experiencing challenging circumstances?
