“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?” –Luke 12:22-25

TRANSCRIPTION:

Good morning, good morning. Grace and peace be unto all of you, my Father’s children, on this incredible Monday morning.

This week, I want us to focus on peace. Not peace in the sense of the absence of violence, but peace of mind. How do we center ourselves? How do we remain grounded when so much around us feels unsettled?

To begin, I want to look at the Gospel according to Luke, chapter 12, starting at verse 22. Jesus is speaking to His disciples:

“Therefore I tell you, do not be anxious about your life, what you will eat, nor about your body, what you will put on. For life is more than food, and the body more than clothing. Consider the ravens: they neither sow nor reap, they have neither storehouse nor barn, and yet God feeds them. Of how much more value are you than the birds! And which of you by being anxious can add a single hour to his span of life? If then you are not able to do as small a thing as that, why are you anxious about the rest?”

Many of us are watching events unfold—not just in our country, but around the world—and we find ourselves anxious. So anxious that it affects our sleep, our appetite, and our peace of mind. We consume information nonstop, wondering what will happen next and how it will impact us.

And yet Christ says, “Look at the birds. Do they look stressed? No. They are simply flying, and I am taking care of them. And don’t you mean more to Me than birds?”

Then He asks a powerful question: “Can any of you, by worrying, add a single hour to your life?” The answer is no. So why spend the hour you do have consumed with anxiety?

Jesus reminds us that as children of God, things outside of our control are not as devastating when we trust the One who holds all control.

Yes, there are circumstances we cannot maneuver. But there is comfort in knowing they are in His hands. Your life is in His hands. Your situation is in His hands.

In fact, there are some things I’m glad I’m not in control of.

God will take care of His children.

So on this Monday, be encouraged. As Christians, we walk with a different kind of confidence. That confidence comes from knowing whose hands we are in.

When we have that assurance, we move differently. We respond differently. Scripture does not say we cannot be concerned—but it does say we should not be anxious. There is a difference between being concerned and being consumed.

And today, I choose not to be consumed.

Because the joy of the Lord is my strength. Because I know who holds me. Because I know who is in control.

Be incredible today. God bless you. Have an awesome Monday. I look forward to speaking with you tomorrow.

God bless.
