O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth! You have set your glory above the heavens. Out of the mouth of babies and infants, you have established strength because of your foes, to still the enemy and the avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him? -Psalm 8:1-4

TRANSCRIPTION:

Great morning, family. I'm Dr. Powell. We're here with our daily devotional.  During the month of January, we've been focusing our attention on what God is saying to us  through the book of Psalm.  It's interesting, because as David pens many of these words, it ought to give us some insight as we move forward by faith and by grace  throughout our day, but also our week, but also to give us some marching orders to kind of set the tone for where we want to be.

It's no mystery. Mondays. Mondays are always challenging. I don't know about you, but I know for me, it always takes a little bit extra effort as they get things rolling in the front start of the week.

So, I'd love if we could take a look at Psalm, the eighth tap, the eighth division of Psalm, right there. And I'm gonna open it up with a little bit of it, but I want you to read the entirety of the verse in your free time. It's not that long, so bear with me.

“Oh, Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth. You have such a glory above the heavens, out of the mouths of babies and infants. You've established strength because of your foes to still be in me and the Avenger. When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon, the stars, you set in place, what is man that thou are mindful of them and the son of man that you care for him?” And it goes on.

I think this is a perfect scripture to start off our Monday with, because in the midst of us trying to get jumpstarted on our day, our week.

As we begin to set forth our goals, rest, and even sometimes that we may even take for granted the fact that we got up on a Monday.  It's important for us to take a moment and recognize that God that we serve is majestic. So before you complain about your job, before you complain about how early you must get up, he said, I want you to take a moment. How majestic is your name in all the earth? Have you ever just taken a moment to recognize the stars, the moon, the  craftsmanship of his hands?

No, no, before you start worrying about the issues, the bills, the work, the circle, before any of that, to just take a moment to take in how awesome God is, how incredibly beyond what we could think, or imagine He exists in. And then the portion that says, what is man that you are mindful of? All of the things that you're stressing. And you're like, within the greater grand scheme of things, God you're so awesome.

I'm just so grateful  that you thought of me to put me on the wake up list this morning. Because when I think of how finite I am and how infinite you are, it's hard for me to complain about stuff. When I think about how great you are and how flawed I am, it's challenging for me to find reason for criticism.

So as you start this Monday off, as to having a quote unquote case of the Mondays, you ought to have  a case of the grace. That if it hadn't been for God on my side, where would I be? And so when I feel my Monday getting ahead of me, I want to take a moment, just think how incredible God is!

You be great this morning. I'll see you on tomorrow. Make it an incredible Monday.
