SOMERSET, NJ — Community Baptist Church (CBC) of Somerset is proud to announce its new partnership with Franklin Township on a Community Garden, an new initiative designed to cultivate fresh produce for the Franklin Township Food Bank.
This partnership reflects CBC’s long-standing commitment to community service and outreach, providing a tangible way to address food insecurity right here in Franklin Township.
“The Community Garden is more than just a space to grow vegetables—it’s a space to grow community,” said Rev. Dr. Jamin Powell, Pastor of Community Baptist Church of Somerset. “Through this partnership, we’re putting our faith into action by providing fresh, healthy food to families who need it most.”
The garden plots, located in Franklin Township, will be cultivated by CBC members and community volunteers. All produce grown will directly support local families served by the Franklin Township Food Bank.
Key Objectives of the Partnership
Provide fresh produce for the Franklin Township Food Bank.
Offer CBC members meaningful opportunities for hands-on service.
Foster community connection through shared stewardship of the garden.
“This effort is about nourishing both body and soul,” said Christina Dickerson, CBC's Garden Ministry Co-Lead. “It’s a chance for our church family to serve alongside community partners, living out our mission to love our neighbors in practical, impactful ways.”
The Community Garden partnership officially kicks off this Spring/Summer, with planting days, volunteer opportunities, and future plans for harvest celebrations.
