Community Baptist Church is celebrating Black History Month with special events every weekend in February.
Our celebration kicks-off with a meaningful speakers series titled Being Black in America, featuring guest speakers each Sunday, followed by a conversation with Loki Mulholland, author of Get Back to the Counter and concludes with a special Black History Month Movie Night.
Throughout the month, CBC will create space for reflection, testimony, and dialogue that centers faith, lived experience, and the enduring strength of the Black community. These events invites both our congregation and the broader community to engage thoughtfully with what it means to navigate identity, faith, and purpose in today’s world while honoring the legacy of those who came before us.
Sunday Speaker Series: Being Black in America
Each Sunday in February, CBC will welcome guest speakers who will share personal insight, perspective, and faith-rooted reflections on the Black experience in America:
February 8 – Brenda Richburg
February 15 – Roslin Jenkins
February 22 – Mr. & Mrs. Powell
These messages will explore resilience, history, faith, and the ongoing journey of Black Americans through storytelling and spiritual reflection grounded in God’s word.
A Conversation with Loki Mulholland: Author of Get Back to the Counter
CBC will host Get Back to the Counter author Loki Mulholland on Thursday February 19th at 6:30pm. Loki will discuss his book and its reflection about his mother, Joan Trumpauer Mulholland, and her pivotal role in the civil rights moment as an active participant in the lunch counter sit-ins.
