“Consecrate yourselves, for tomorrow the Lord will do amazing things among you.” –Joshua 3:5

This Lenten season, Community Baptist Church of Somerset is stepping into a sacred rhythm together.

Lent is more than tradition. It is an invitation. An invitation to slow down. To quiet the noise. To draw nearer to God with intention and expectancy.

Under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Jamin Powell, we are entering a season of consecration, clarity, and commitment, believing that when we posture ourselves before God, He moves in powerful ways.

Phase One: Water Fast (Water Only)

February 18th, Ash Wednesday – March 7th | 7am – 7pm

We begin with discipline. From morning to evening, we will abstain from food and consume water only. This phase is a focused time of prayer, spiritual sharpening, and intentional dependence on God. When the body is quieted, the spirit becomes more attentive.

Phase Two: Social Media Fast

March 9th – March 21st

Next, we silence the digital distractions. No scrolling. No endless notifications. No noise competing with the voice of God. This is a time to disconnect in order to reconnect, to strengthen devotion, reclaim focus, and realign priorities.

Phase Three: Daniel Fast

March 23rd – April 3rd, Good Friday

As we approach Good Friday, we return to simplicity through the Daniel Fast. Fruits, vegetables, whole grains, legumes, and water. This phase is about refinement. About choosing what nourishes both body and spirit as we prepare our hearts for Resurrection Sunday.

Daily Devotions

Throughout the fast, our daily devotions will be aligned with the Lenten journey. Each message will guide us in prayer, reflection, and practical application as we move through every phase together. As a church family, we will fast together, pray together, and grow together.

Our Prayer Focus

Throughout this journey, we are praying for:

  • Clarity

  • Breakthrough

  • Discipline

  • Spiritual Sensitivity

We believe God is calling CBC higher in this season, not just individually, but collectively. This fast is not about restriction. It is about alignment and renewal.

CBC Family, let’s lean in. Let’s pray boldly. Let’s expect greatly.
